Most people don't chose their career path until they've taken a variety of college courses, getting a crash course on numerous subjects and fields. I am lucky to say I discovered my passion my sophomore year of high school when I decided to apply for a position on the yearbook staff. Being on this staff and working my way up the ladder (literally and figuratively) to the position of editor-in-chief introduced me to my love and what would be my lifelong passion of graphic design, and later on, advertising and public relations.
Ever since then, I have been heavily involved in the world of graphic design, advertising, and pr, holding multiple creative positions including the creative design manager of the award-winning student news organization TommieMedia.com for three years, as a contract graphic designer at Jostens, and as the editor-in-chief of the St. Thomas Aquinas Yearbook. During my time at TommieMedia.com, our team earned much recognition including first place in websites and student market TV from the North West Eric Sevareid Awards and "Best Website" at the Minnesota Newspaper Association Better Newspaper Contest in 2013. I also designed the infographic that was the second most viewed story on the website in 2012. In January 2015, I swept the Best Advertisement category at the Minnesota Newspaper Association Better Newspaper Contest receiving both first and second place.
I've always been one that wears many hats and that likes to be as involved as possible, and my senior year of college is proof of that. Not only did I serve as the co-president of the University of St. Thomas Dance Club, design manager of TommieMedia.com, and as a contractor at Jostens, I gained a huge amount of ad/pr industry experience interning at Spong PR. At Spong, I was an intern graphic designer contributing to multiple campaigns, pitches and brainstorming sessions.
I wake up each day with the drive and determination to create, whether it be for one of my jobs or a passion project. I never turn down an opportunity to learn and am not afraid to fail.
When I'm not geeking out over Pantone swatches or confessing my love for modern typefaces, you can find me teaching barre fitness classes. Not only am I passionate about the creative world, but I am extremely dedicated to personal health and fitness. Instructing and taking classes at the barre has changed me in more ways that I thought possible when I walked under that red awning three years ago. I've gained mental strength, learned the importance of taking time for myself and that I can truly do whatever I set my mind to. Because of my love for the studio and our community, I decided to take an even bigger role in the company by serving as the barre's social media and marketing manager.
In my free time, I enjoy cooking and baking healthy bites, spending time with friends, and racking up stars on my Starbucks Gold Card.
